Project Overview: Tricarico Architecture and Design (TAD) served as both Design Architect and Executive Architect for the renovation of Enterprise Mobility’s corporate office located at 1550 Rt 23 North in Wayne, NJ. This existing two-story space, covering more than 28,000 square feet, was completely reimagined and transformed into fresh open collaborative spaces and experiences that embody the Enterprise Mobility brand of providing custom mobility solutions for an evolving world.
Design + Experience: The TAD planning process turned architectural design into brand experience, driving the business forward. Working in close collaboration with the client and vendors, TAD drew inspiration with spaces that are transparent with an abundance of natural and indirect light and visual horizons. The building entryways, N/S and E/W, set up an axis arrangement through the building whereby their intersection created a central communal hub, encouraging employee engagement and interaction. A café lounge was conceived as a premier indoor/outdoor dining and working space with appliances, a large kitchen island, open and booth seating, and large video screens. Pixelated sound absorption materials, expressed in the brand color palette, were applied to key circulation elements to reinforce wayfinding and connection to place.
Technical Execution: TAD’s role focused on first identifying the client’s programmatic needs and headcount requirements, followed by interpreting the client’s vision, brand aspirations and desired customer experience. TAD responded with a design that turned these ideas into an architectural solution with scaled layers of experiences and moments that reflect the Enterprise Mobility brand. TAD provided full architectural construction documents integrating new MEP systems to further support the aesthetic. Acoustic management and sound absorption were a key concern throughout the building since the program required private offices, open workspaces and staff meeting rooms and training rooms for outside visitors. Exposing the building’s concrete waffle slab and integrating a suspended felt grid framework expressing the ceiling plane presented the ideal solution.
Project Delivery: TAD worked closely with the Enterprise Mobility development team through the design and construction document phases and continued with construction administration responsibilities with the General Contractor (Donnelly Construction/Wayne NJ) added to the team. Over the course of 43 weeks of construction, the team collaborated weekly on OAC meetings with clear communication, thorough reports and look-ahead schedules, delivering the finished space on time.
Result: The Enterprise Mobility corporate office has been reimagined as an employee centric environment that harmonizes workspace with inspiration, energy and comfort. Training activities coexist with open and private offices in a facility that is functional, cohesive and modern. TAD and team brought the project vision to life, delivering spaces and experiences that embody the Enterprise Mobility brand, where everyone feels part of the Enterprise Family.
